Get Certified

To become AICP members, planners must pass the AICP Certification Exam. The exam is offered twice a year in May and November. The deadline to apply is approximately 6 months in advance of the examination. Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Be a current member of the American Planning Association (APA).
  2. Be engaged in professional planning.
  3. Have a minimum of 2-8 years of professional experience (depending on level of education).
