Vermont Walk Bike Summit

In partnership with the Vermont Agency of Transportation and a number of other participating organizations and sponsors, the Southern Windsor County Regional Planning Commission and the Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission hosted the 2018 statewide Vermont Walk/Bike Summit on May 4, 2018 at the Barrette Center for the Arts in downtown White River Junction.

The Summit featured highly-acclaimed keynote speaker Russ Roca, co-owner of The Path Less Pedaled – a bike travel blog-turned-business – as well as a welcome from Congressman Peter Welch. This year’s Summit featured four different session tracks (advocacy and education, safe and healthy communities, economic development, and the built environment), and included interactive Demo It sessions like how to set up a Valet Bike Parking System in your community, test driving an E-bike, and learning how to DIY a crosswalk stencil design by Team Better Block and AARP.

Awards were presented to Jason Van Driesche of Local Motion as the Walk/Bike Professional, Alice Charkes as the Volunteer Advocate, and VT Huts Association and Velomont Trail as the Notable Project. Stay tuned for the next VT Walk/Bike Summit in 2020!
