Environmental Scientist/Waterways Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Environmental Scientist/Waterways Manager serves as the resident expert on matters regarding waterways, energy infrastructure, and hydroelectric operations within the City of Nashua. Reporting to the Director of Community Development, the Environmental Scientist will lead the City to a higher level of understanding and commitment to the City’s potential use of waterways, water bodies and related resource preservation, energy infrastructure, conservation, and development potential. Primary responsibilities include oversight of two operating hydro facilities, regulatory compliance with state and/or federal environmental programs and permits, management of invasive species, watershed health monitoring and project review, emergency preparedness in relation to flood control and related water and stormwater infrastructure, floodplain management, grant writing, project management, public education, and support of the Environment and Energy Committee with administrative tasks and implementation of projects.
