City Planner

The City of Claremont is seeking an experienced professional for the position of City Planner to work with the Planning & Economic Development team. We are seeking a critical thinker with strong communication skills and an interest in fast-paced and innovative solutions. This position serves as the City’s principle Planner and exercises considerable independence in the performance of duties with general guidance from a director. Responsibilities include review of site plan and subdivision applications, as well as investigation and reporting on matters relating to zoning, including the preparation, revision and modification of ordinances and maps, and code enforcement. This position requires considerable interaction with the public, regional and state agencies, land use boards, energy advisory committee and will require the ability to manage multiple concurrent planning projects and resident inquiries.

Two (2) years of progressive experience is required. Bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, geography or related field is preferred. The successful candidate must be customer service oriented and familiar with city planning processes. AICP certification a plus.
