Transportation Planner

Souther New Hampshire Planning Commission, Manchester, NH

The Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission (SNHPC) is seeking a Transportation Planner. Under general supervision, the professional will work in the development of long- and short-range transit planning at our Manchester, NH office.

Minimum qualifications include graduation from a recognized college or university with a Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning with an emphasis in transportation planning, or a related field, supplemented by three years’ professional planning experience with at least two years’ experience in public transit projects and planning, preferably with a local transit provider.

Other requirements: Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of transit planning and scheduling; knowledge of the techniques of planning research and ability to apply them to general and specific transit planning studies and projects; ability to develop and work with computer spreadsheets and travel demand forecasting models; ability to communicate complex ideas, planning requirements and objectives effectively to elected officials and the general public; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with funding agencies, interested groups in planning, public officials, other employees and the general public.

Starting Salary – $42,500
