Senior Planner


Planning & Regulatory Services Division

The City of Worcester is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Senior Planner. This position is responsible for supporting a variety of long-range and current planning activities. A Bachelor’s degree in city or regional planning, urban studies, geography, architecture/landscape architecture, civil engineering or other related discipline, and four or more years of related professional experience required; A Master’s degree in a relevant field is desirable and may be substituted for one year of professional experience.

Required Skills/Capabilities: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; Experience writing and preparing documents such as plans, studies, technical reports and/or review memoranda; Urban planning experience involving three or more of the following topical areas: land use, zoning, development review, urban design, comprehensive planning, transportation, and the environment; Proficiency with personal computers, including Microsoft Office Suite; Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations, organizations, and interests. Other desirable qualifications include experience in project management, development review, GIS mapping and analysis, public engagement/outreach, and knowledge of zoning and subdivision control law.  Starting salary: $61,591.98 to $68,458.28
