Director of Planning and Code Enforcement

JOB DESCRIPTION
The City of Lewiston is seeking a Director of Planning and Code Enforcement to lead a department of seven with an annual budget of $460,000. Key responsibilities include working to implement the City’s 2017 Legacy Lewiston Comprehensive Plan; enforcing the City’s various building codes including the property maintenance code; closely coordinating with the Community and Economic Development Department on development projects and housing improvement efforts, including lead remediation; working closely with the Planning Board, Board of Appeals, Historic Preservation Review Board, and City Council on Planning and Code issues; participating as a key member of the City’s overall management team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, urban planning, business administration, engineering, or related field is required; in addition to ten (10) years experience working on similar issues in a municipal setting. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification and Maine State Code Enforcement Certification preferred.

Salary range is $65,774 to $94,263 depending on qualifications and experience, and includes a negotiable benefits package.
